Android Antitrust Issues
Related to the discussion last class about the Android OS, here's an article about how the FTC is looking into complaints about how Google is using Android to bolster its other services (Maps and Search).
Interesting article on anti-trust and how Google's bundling of services to take advantage of its network effects could be harming competition. Given the world wide market share of the Android operating system and its continued growth, it will be interesting to see how the company navigates different regulations in the various markets in which it operates. Will there be an eventual limit or cap on bundling or how will Google adapt as regulators and competitors put more scrutiny on its business practices?
