When I was searching for an apartment when I moved to Boston, a couple of real estate agents recommended sites such as zipskinny.com and city-data.com that gives some statistical information about the demographics of a neighborhood. Some of the websites give so much information that I don't know if someone would have to pick a couple of key indicators to match their neighborhood rather than finding the "perfect match."
